Gyuri Nagy KF6YKN (left) and Vadim Afonkin compare notes after the 2m competition. Both won gold medals in their categories.

ARRL SW Division Director and volunteer cinematographer Art Goddard W6XD took off running from the starting point following one 2m runner and ended up videotaping competitors from start to finish. Here he is jogging into the endpoint.

Bob Cooley KF6VSE downloads his e-stick in the e-punch tent and gets his 2m results sheet from Ananda Ranasinghe of Los Angeles Orienteering Club.

Jay Thompson W6JAY ran through the brush to get a medal, plus some scratches on his legs. Volunteer medic Jon Schaffer, R.N. W6UFS applies the antiseptic.

Mike Cegelski K8EHP had some trouble finding the 2m endpoint, but he was easily DF'd after he called for assistance. He got lots of fluids and a blood pressure check from W6UFS after his return.

Tired but happy, competitors filled the bus seats for the ride back to Gorman after the 2m competition. In front is Bill Smathers KG6HXX. Behind him are Richard and Jay Thompson, WA6NOL and W6JAY.

Will this help? It's Saturday morning and Bob Frey WA6EZV is preparing for the 80m hunt after getting off the bus at the Nordic Base near the top of Mt. Pinos in the Los Padres National Forest.

The 80m start point was a 300-meter hike up the trail from the parking lot. Somebody forgot the tarp for the 80m impound area, so everyone just put their gear on the ground.

This little ground squirrel entertained the competitors as they waited for some minor technical problems with the foxes to be fixed.
