A large group of two-meter sets in impound prior to the first two-meter classic start.

The 11 x 17 inch 1:10,000 maps were enclosed in plastic sleeves.  Competitors had to figure out whether to take them out and how to fold them.

Yuxian Lin leaves the starting point.  As the first competitors left, it was so dark that flash was necessary to capture them.

Waiting for the start tones are Ewen Templeton VK3OW, Patrick Spears AK4JE, Tianqi Han, Jen Harker W5JEN and Xidong Li.  Since they are in different age/gender categories and will be searching for different transmitter groups, it's OK for them to start at the same time.

There are lots of interesting critters in the woods, including this spider.  The biggest concern was ticks, but most of the participants treated their clothes with permethrin and avoided any problems.

Coming into the 2m classic finish is Yihong Luo.

On Saturday evening, everyone gathered at the Yaeger Benson American Legion Post hall in Harrison for a fine buffet supper and presentation of awards for sprint, foxoring and two-meter classic.

ARRL Great Lakes Division Vice Director Thomas Delaney W8WTD gave greetings to the banquet attendees.  Ardee Fox and Hamlet kept an eye on everyone from the head table.

Dick Arnett WB4SUV and Brian DeYoung K4BRI sort through the medals, getting ready for presenting.

The first medals presented were in the visitor division, for representatives of countries outside of IARU Region 2 (North and South America).  These Chinese medal winners in M13 category displayed their country's flag.
