It was back to the Huberman property again on Saturday for the main two-meter event.  Competitors trekked out a trail westward from the house about 700 meters to the starting area.  Carlie Huberman (left) staffed the map table.  Preparing their maps are Nicolai Mejevoi and Iurii Kolesnykov UR3RR.

Measuring-tape yagis for two meters have become a standard in the USA and many other places.  John Marriott, the only competitior from the UK this year, shows off his yagi with his ROX-2T two-meter AM receiver and compass mounted on it.

This "souped up" two-meter receiver was used by Harley Leach KI7XF.

The two-meter starting corridor went past this abandoned farmhouse with a treehouse in the front yard.

In this two-meter starting group are Leszek Lechowicz NI1L, Valeri Gueorguiev, Karla Leach KC7BLA and Jay Hennigan WB6RDV.  At right is Ian Schields, the starting official.

Jerry Boyd WB8WFK stands at the starting line, awaiting his turn on the course.

Ruslan Zolochevskyi studies the map just before his two-meter run.

Vadim Afonkin KB1RLI heads out the corridor, followed by Harley Leach KI7XF.

Leszek Lechowicz NI1L was in the USA Championships for the first time in 2009.  This day he took third place in M40 category

Mengbing Li happily sets out on the course, on the way to a medal in W19 category.

Csaba Tiszttarto has attended Region 2 championships since 1999.

April Moell WA6OPS provided First Aid as needed for everyone, including Matthias Kuehlewein DL3SDO.

It was Something Different for supper on Saturday night.  That was the name of the restaurant where everyone gathered to eat and receive awards.  Displaying their medals in the two-meter competition M40 category are Leszek Lechowicz NI1L (overall third place), Nicolai Mejevoi (overall second) and Vadim Afonkin KB1RLI (overall first)

Besides being a medal winner in the W21 category, Mariana Marynchenko was the translator for the Ukrainian team.  She presented this thank-you gift to Joseph and Ruth at the awards banquet.

It took a lot of effort for Joseph and Ruth to get government officials to provide invitations and visas for the Ukrainian team.  As another thank-you, Mariana gave them this hand-carved "persuader" to help them in the future.
