Sunday's 80-meter event required everyone to drive a rutty road into the woods to a clearing at this trailhead for Robbins Branch Trail.  The start and finish were up this trail.  Weather was cool with heavy clouds.

A few of the 80-meter sets in the impound area.  They all have loop or ferrite rod directional antennas that give very sharp signal nulls.

Patrick Sears AK4JE shows off his 80-meter RDF set, held together with lots of duct tape.

In this 80-meter starting group are Csaba Tiszttarto, Mengbing Li, P-A Nordwaeger SMØBGU and Nahzib Mukhitov.

Karla Leach KC7BLA sets out on the 80-meter course, followed by Michael Schuh KF7QDZ.  It was so dark in the woods that morning that flash was needed to capture the action.

Happy to be going out onto the 80-meter course is Marji Garrett KJ4ZKC.  She will take second place in W50.

On the way to hunt 80 meter foxes and be the third place USA finisher in M60 is Dick Arnett WB4SUV.

After finishing, competitors walked down the trail to the parking area to download and refresh while results were tabulated.  Electrolyte replacement drinks and fruit were available there.

By tradition, Ardee Fox, the official USA ARDF mascot, was in the refreshment and First Aid area, wearing an orange cap.

After downloading, Iurii Kolesnykov checks his map against the official fox location map posted at the end point.

A few minutes after the last finisher arrived, Sunday's awards were given out.  Ruslan Zolochevskyi displays his 80-meter gold medal for M19 category.

Mengbing Li received an 80-meter gold medal in W19 category.  Anna, as she is called in the USA, is a student at University of North Carolina.  She was a member of the ARDF club at her high school in China.

80-meter medal winners in M60 were (l to r) Dick Arnett WB4SUV (USA third place), Nick Roethe DF1FO (Region 2 first), Nahzib Mukhitov (overall first) and John Marriott (overall third) and Joseph Huberman K5JGH (USA second).  Jay Hennigan WB6RDV (USA first) was not present because he had to leave for an early flight.

It's over!  Ruth, Joseph, Lori and Kiwi are able to relax and accept the praises of all the participants.
